Some experiences in life are very painful. They can cause deep suffering that lasts a long time. That is what we call “trauma”. Trauma is a deep wound of the heart and mind that takes a long time to heal. It is the emotional response and pain following a stressful life event resulting in physical harm, emotional harm, or life-threatening harm. It hurts every part of our lives: how we relate to others, how our bodies feel, and what we think. We may no longer feel like the same person.
Some of the major life stressors that can lead to trauma are the death of a loved one, marriage breakdown, dysfunctional relationships, violence and abuse, childhood traumas, personal injury or illness, chronic pain, chronic stress, moving, lack of social support, difficulties at work and financial worries. Those experiences can have a lasting impact on our bodies and nervous system and if left untreated can have a big impact on your future health. Science is very clear that our bodies and minds are interconnected. Whether you are dealing with physical trauma, emotional trauma, or both, moving your body and healing your mind is a necessary part of your recovery.
By addressing both physical and psychological aspects of trauma, this workshop will help you by offering an introduction to the latest scientific and comprehensive care in treating trauma through mind, body, and soul. The goal of the workshop is to embrace the feeling in the body that it is safe to be who we are, to connect with ourselves, with our inner voice, and with our repressed emotions so that we can feel relief or gain new insights.
During our workshop, you will be introduced to 3 methods of Clinical Pilates, Body Psychotherapy, and EMDR that will empower you to take control of your healing, alleviate pain, and feel safe and alive in your body again.
What is covered:
1. Meaning of trauma and how it can impact your Body & Mind
2. Body Psychotherapy exercises to help you relax, connect with yourself, and realize repressed emotions
3. Chronic Pain, its impact on your nervous system, and how to get rid of it.
4. Clinical Pilates Class to help you alleviate pain and prevent injuries
5. Introductory EMDR – Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy approach known for its effectiveness in treating trauma-related conditions whether physical or emotional such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, or depression.
